Good day today for the most part... headache still going strong. I get them every time the weather changes which sucks. At least it wasn't pouring down rain today. I did get some things done that I have been putting off... like sending some of my jewelry to a Hotel that wants to sell it... and sending some Hellman's Mayo to a friend in Switzerland who has breast cancer.

Hey guys... sorry the DH is home today so I have to wait until he gets off our computer to post.
Total Calories Yesterday: 1722
As of today so far : 953
Making good choices and exercising. Today walked for an hour and burned 475 calories. Have one heck of a headache today. Drinking lots of water but took two tylenol also.
Banana before I exercise is a must now.. it helps me from flagging half way through.

I agree fully with what you hear: Do NOT snack at night. Some folk say to never EVER eat after 8pm, but that is sometimes when my dinner is... for me it's stopping at 9.. bed at midnight.
And non-butter flavour (IE: plain) popcorn that is air popped or microwaved is said to be not bad at all. Movie popcorn is often what you hear about being drowned in butter etc.
And yes, all workdays come to an end eventually, some are just longer than others.
EDIT: About eating at night, while I don't think you should, Sarah's case is different than yours Juha, as she was sick all day and had not found her balance again until later. She needed the sandwich, you could have done without that apple!

re: Sarah
Pop corns? arent those like the foulest of the foul.
Corn is oki i think but those practically swim in grease, and the amount of salt is usually
rather high as well. I suggest you find another salt source.
re: Heather
your workday will end eventually as well, and you can 'slide' to have a happy weekend.
just like I did today :)

Hi.
I had last day at work today. School starts on monday again. No more 8h workdays and that puts me on happy mood. No more early wake ups at 4:30am either. Reason to celebrate.
Normally, when i feel I deserve a treat i buy myself something nice or tasty. For example, It would have been easy to buy a doughtnut this morning under the excuse of last workday. but no, I didnt slip :)
Had problems again last night 2hours before going to bed, i wanted to eat something but i wasnt hungry. Just chewed my fingernails and had an apple:
"But later last night I was sooooo hungry I made myself a little mini roll with chicken filet lunchmeat."
My report and this quote will lead us to my today's question about eating late at night.
I've heard from numerous people that eating late will make you fat, you dont use the food you eat late. You goto sleep and your body doesnt need energy provided by food. What do you think about this? What have you heard?
Ps: got a good reminder why breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Just had a banana and cup of coffee before work. And damn that i was hungry for a long while before the lunchbreak started.

lunch
Total calories - 370
1 bottle of mixed fruit juice - 120
2 slice brown multi-grain bread - 130
2 small slices (about 2tbsp) creme cranberry pate - 120
750ml water
fem-fit, applecider vinegar and bio-chromium vitamins
Oki, Heather made me do it... I had to run to the AH to get some popcorn for this salt craving of mine (that will be my snack when Kristel gets home, we will share a bag of popcorn), so i picked up one of the cranberry pates, the one with all the bits didn't look appetizing to me, so I took the creamier one, which has cranberries on top. Its not too bad, I won't be eating it all the time, but for a change of pace once in a while its a nice thing. Definitely tastes different than the liver I used to have to choke down as a kid, even when it was wrapped in bacon and smothered in gravy.

Scrubbing the house day, since it's cold and yucky and work is supposed to be a nightmare when it arrives later this afternoon. Tomorrow won't be fun at all it seems, but it pays the bills. Even scrubbed out the cat's closet. Always fun, but it's nice to give the house a good clean and have it all sorted for a relaxing weekend with the significant other! Hopefully the weather will be nice :(
Had cranberry pate for lunch and tried (unsuccessfully) to praise the merits of good deli pate itself to Sarah. It's yummie, I swear!
Well back to cleaning.. bleah...

Oh gods, on tv now is an infomercial about a product called "slim coffee"... drink our coffee and lose up to 20 pounds in a month! Yay for BS television. Slim coffee my ass.
PS: owie my arms hurt! Pennance for buying the big heavy box (and having to carry it home), I suppose!
PPS: Hope you get better and better, Sarah

yeah milk and bread
i must really be sick... when bread taste good plain
Are you kidding!? My biggest vice is plain fresh bread! Oh gods, give me loaves and loaves of nutty bread still warm from the bakery. It's a worse vice than choco or donuts because there's no "sugar ain't good for you" stigma attached to devouring it in my brain. Oh mmmmmm fresh bread...
On the flip side.. bread past 2 days old and I find it harder and harder to even eat at all. Butter or toasting always helps there, but for the most part in this house at day 3 it goes to the birds and I fetch new.
*cuddles her loaf she just got from the AH only 15 mins ago.. and still warm!*
thanks for the get well vibes everyone.
They must be working
cause I've kept down a few things
1 banana
1 small round roll
and some aleve
and some water
i didn't even dare to take my vitamins this morning
i think its time to try another roll and some milk
Heather the chairs and box are lovely!
Tuna in water is good for you, Juha, most fish is.
Thanks Diana, you look like you are going good, but like Heather said, don't go to the trouble of making 2 different meals, just eat a smaller portion of what you make for hubby. Thats what I'm doing, theres no way I'd have enough time in a day to make 2 meals in the evenings.

*flings more get well vibes at Sarah*
Since I keep fawning over them, and it has to do with eating fabulously... I took a few pics of the finally finished dining room! Well.. Dining room, come study, come computer room, come livingroom, come breakfast bar room... ahem... it's a small house ok!?
But lookie, the tin sign I lugged all around Tilburg with you two made its way to the only place it could... Beneath the picture of Mellon that Sarah drew for me! And the last photo of the box is the temptation I couldn't resist.. and was very heavy to carry home today ;P
Lunch was the remaining half bowl of soup from last night's dinner, so in comparison a big lunch, but it was nice to come home too with my sore arms from carrying the box!
PS: *flings even MORE get well vibes*

Sad to hear that you're sick Sarah. I dont personally count calories but I'd have to be on 'death row' before breaking the rules ive set. Don't eat something you normally wouldnt just to comfort yourself. Hopefully this isn't a sign that you've been going 'to extremes'. Hurling is a sign of something for sure. Hope you find out the reason for it and get well soon.
And yeah, re: Heather, I remember the morning in paris, but i never felt disgust or such, i was just really worried about.
Hrm anyway. Discovered something new and tasty today while pondering hard what to eat for lunch at work. Rice cakes and tuna(in water) on top of those. hrm at least in my mind tuna is oki food as long as its in water. Or is there some sneaky grease bomb hiding in the fish? ;P
Anyway I had a good day, I've been following my diet. Tho i must admit that last night was hard. I keep getting this urge to pick something to nibble at when i goto read in bed before falling a sleep. Its crazy, I know. I'm not hungry but I still want to eat something. Must get rid of that urge, grr.

I can really tell the difference when I exercise when I don't eat a banana for breakies... Today I worked harder and burned more calories than when I had blueberries instead... I flagged half way through the workout.
1 hour on the treadmill burned 434 calories (I use a HR Monitor)
Sara hun hope you feel better soon! Sending Positive thoughts your way.
Heather the bun bun is very sweet.

Oh no! It's the dreadded "one week into diet, and body goes into shock from lack of donus so Sarah gets sick" syndrome!
No really, rest, relax, and try with juice and fruit after your stomach settles some.
Being sick to the point or hurling is no fun. I don't get it often, but in Paris I did (sorry Juha) and when you can't even keep water down for the time it's just no fun.
Cookies won't make it any better, but you know this. Go for the fruit when you think you can eat again and GET WELL SOON!

Aagh, you have a sauna?! Great, now not only can the Finn taunt me.. and Sarah as well as there's one at her gym.. but you too! Kruik!
I really don't see the point behind making two seperate dinners though. Why not just take the same, but less of it? Sounds like an awful lot of added work!
Dinner here will be a beefy soup, mostly made of veggies from our garden... We have too many carrots and things and so into the soup they go :)

Total Calories for today : 1395
Don't feel like typing it all out... It's in Lifeform so I can track it. No exercise today but walked alot with the DH in town.
I drink lots of water everyday if I don't I get dehydration headaches and I refuse to go to the sauna if I haven't had enough water... I always have one hell of a headache after we are done but it is relaxing..
Played Tile Rummy with the DH after supper. The thing that is hardest for me on a diet is that I make two meals one for me and one for the DH... he has a really fast metabolism the lucky boy. It is so hard not to nibble on what I make him sometimes!

Since I already talked of my thoughts on the hunger thing below, I'll not rewrite em now all now. But the jist of it is that I think being "hungry" sometimes is a good thing. That's just mild "hey its 7pm and I haven't eaten since noon" hunger, and a very far cry from true hunger which I hope none of us has ever felt.
Ate a small bit more than normal so far today (read one extra piece of bread.. whoop...) since its been a work day and workin's hard.
Happy evening though, as after years and years of not having a dining table... to getting our table about 8 months ago... we finally got our ordered chairs in today! Huzzah! Now to con Mark into dining on the table for real :)

I never was one to believe in the hunger feeling being a good thing.
It puts your body into panic mode, and makes your body store fat. This from my nurse sister, so its not just something I've made up. Plus I've read it in about every single diet I've ever done in my 32 years of life.
Hunger is NOT good for your body if you are trying to lose weight. You need to give your body energy to burn. Kinda like a campfire needs a spark to get it roaring, you body needs the food to spark its burning process.
If you have 3 hours before dinner, eat something healthy, fruit or veggies. Apples are high in fiber and stay with you longer than say an orange. A banana is higher in sugar and calories, but they have a good source of potassium. Drink your water!
See I know what what I need to do, its keeping to it that is my hard task this time around. Stay on the straight and narrow.

Oh, im here as well Ive just found nothing to comment about :)
I had a good day yesterday, went to gym and ate according to plan.
This day has been good as well. Im usually more energic after a gym visit
on the next day.
Everday after first few areas (I clean outdoor areas) we goto have coffee with workmate to this gastation where you can get a coffee and doughnut for 2e, just the coffee alone costs 1,20e.
Workmate usually takes a doughnut. One of those really tasty looking ones with pink glaze.
So every morning i have to say no to doughnut , and to watch him eat his. I havent slipped in that for several weeks and I dont intend to either. Its a good test that.
I remember you guys talking about hunger feeling. Since it is important to eat enough in a day. How long do you let yourself stay as hungry, listening to belly growling before eating? If youd get hungry lets say 3h before next meal. Is it still 3h wait or should you get some little snack. Been wondering about this.
And about skipping sauna? oh no, THERES NO WAY!

My balance day was sunday, but last night ended up being small cause I had to leave early for work. The kids had Info evening at the school and I had to be there at 7:30. Talk about rushing dinner. Thats why my greenbeans werent done. Not to mention I'm trying to get my body used to eating smaller portions at dinner. Today's dinner will be Spaghetti with whole wheat (volkoren) spaghetti noodles. I made my tuna casserole with the volkoren noodles and felt way more full after one cup of it. It costs a bit more for the volkoren stuff, but know what? Whats 50 cents when I can get my health better and lose weight?
Damn AH, everything I went there to get today was OUT! I couldn't believe it, it was like they read this blog and said, hey she's coming to get popcorn and the swiss 72% cocoa chocolate, lets hide it! There was something else that was missing too, that I thought was odd as well. Oh I remember, was getting snacks for the kids, and went to pick up a box of oreos for my friend Laurel, in Paris, and there weren't any. Talk about an ODD day in the AH!
I found a lock for the locker, tomorrow I will go to the gym. Damn stupid locks... I want an american style combination lock. Guess I need to go on the search and find!

Okidoki, sat down and counted with fingers on pulse and it was 57.
I don't know if I've ever done that before. :)
Thanks for plopping the info in.. it's pretty close already to what I saw on a website of what my daily caloric intake should be.
EDIT: Great, now after taking the number I look up what a heartrate should be and mine's apparently low. Bugger. I feel fine and I don't believe I'm sick, damnit. :P

Heather to find out just find your pluse and count the beats for a minute. Mine is 60...
Okay So here is what the computer said but this info may change with your Resting HR info
Sara your Basal Metabolic is 1992 calories that is how many calories your body burns every day just doing nothing...
What I call the Weight Gain Line is 2589 calories... for every 3200 calories over that amount you gain a pound for every 3200 calories below you lose a pound. Now this line goes up depending on the exercise you do... so say you walked for an hour and burned 400 calories that number would increase by 400...
Heather your Basal Metabolic is 1400 calories and your Weight Gain Line is 1820
The thinner you are the less calories it takes to sustain us... so with every pound we lose both those lines go down..

Age: 29
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 132 lb as of this morning
Blood Type: A, but I cannot remember if it's + or -...
and Resting Heart Rate.. also estimated Maximum HR if you know it...
And for the heart rate no clue :)
I have to wonder what blood type really matters though. Strange question. Does it really make a difference?
To Juha, welcome goober. The plan looks fine, as long as it works for you. Just don't go skipping meals like you mentioned you did earlier! Bad finn, no sauna!

If you don't want to put the info in the blog you can email it to me.. the more weight you lose though the lower the caloric intake needed... so it changes whenever you weigh less..

Glad to see you in here with us!
Your goals look sound and healthy. Now its just the keeping to them part.
As a treat for myself at the end of this week, I found some cote d'or intense pure chocolate. Its only 48% cocoa, but it will have to do, unless I can get the 72% when I do the grocery shopping tomorrow. Then I'll give this one to hubby tomorrow. It says on the package that one little piece is 56 calories. I think that is doable with the diet I've been keeping. I'm hoping this will help take care of my craving for chocolate. This has been for me this past week the hardest thing. No chocolate. And when we had it at the party that little teaspoon of chocolate sauce was like heaven.

Hi and thanks for invitation Sarah.
I've been unhappy about my weight for a long time now. I tried a diet in the spring but I did not have enough selfdiscipline to hold it. It was easy to eat out, kebab, pizza stuff like that and it was all downhill then. Here are some of records from that time:
5.5 86,2
12.5 86,6
2.6 84,5
9.6 84,5
30.6 83,2
As you can see I was doing good there for a while but then, yes, the trashfood streak started.
According to this link which Heather gave me http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm my ideal weight is about 80kg. My goal is to jump there and to go 1kg below it. My weight is now 84kg so that would be a drop of 5kgs. I want to get there and to help my friends, Sarah and Heather to achieve their goals as well. By supporting eachother can get there. You've already done this for a while, but ill jump on board at this point. Lets go to work. :)
My guidelines are simple in the start.
1) Clear schedule for eating. no more snacks. 3 meals in a day. and thats it.
2) Reduce the amount of sweet things to minimum, no candies, no lemonade no sugar in coffee or other 'sweeteners'.
3) Stop using butter with bread. I've done this before, i just picked up the habit of using it sometime ago. In my mouth the bread does not taste any better with it anyway.
4) 3 gym visits in a week. Stopped going to gym last spring and been doing random strikes ever since. It is time to start physical activities again. (granted that ive played alot of soccer in summer but still, a clear schedule for this as well)
What do you guys think about those? Im open for all the ideas you can offer.

Lunch
Total Calories - 284
2 oz Garlic Chicken - 65
1.25 cups mixed veggies - 21
1 srv Kartofel Snack - 198
I do like this diet because its all about eating whole foods. I modify it as well because I have a computer program that I put all my info into called Lifeform. It tells me how many calories I need in a day where my weight gain line is.... What the absolute minimum I need just to sustain my body doing normal activity etc.. It's a great program. I also weigh everything except water...
What I was saying about the salt and sugar.... I bought salsa and it was so sweet I couldn't eat it... And I bought some frozen chicken (plain I thought) to cook with and it was like eating a salt lick...

I don't follow a single diet either, because most of the diets I have read either insist on too much of one thing or not enough of something else. Like they either insist you eat nothing but meat and cheese or tell you no meat and cheese. And since I live in a land where cheese and meat seems to be the main staples along with potatoes... well you can see where I'm coming from. I don't think I could ever become a vegetarian.
So I kind of combine 3 types of diets.
The Calorie counting
Fit for Life - this is a diet, hubby and I did about 8 years ago, following it strictly, hubby lost 16kilos in 2 months, me I lost 15 in 3 months, but after the first recipe book it goes into changing meat to tofu, which is oki occassionally, but I kinda like chicken and beef. ;)
Negative Calories - a diet my nurse practitioner sister sent to me, which also tends to do the no meat thing, but I like the information about different foods and which ones take more calories to burn than they put into your body.

I have never followed a diet plan. Things with names like "6 week body makeover" I just don't believe in because after the 6 weeks... what then?
In the end, I've just honestly tried to re-learn how to eat so that when the reduction/dieting stops, then I no longer gain it all back. My goal has been to learn just how much is enough, what's healthy, what's not, etc. There's a commercial here about having a "balance day" after a big meal or party, and that's another thing I've adopted into my eating habits for the times when I know I've gone overboard! (And we all do)
As to sauces and things I've never really noticed a difference. In the states I just get disgusted seeing how much of everything has flamboyant claims of "No fat! No this! No that!".. even packs of cookies... which leads a lot of folk to believing it's suddenly oki to eat such things in abundance. I much prefer the normality of euro food these days, and when I visit the states I find it hard to eat right. Even the bread there is nasty! I miss my bakeries!
As for you using a diet plan, I think that if it works for you _use it_ ! We all have different ways that help us lose, and if following a pre determined plan works for you, then do it :)

I brought my scale over from the US... hence the pounds... Heather by chance was it the Six Week Body Makeover? I just fall back on the diet cuz I know it works for me.
I just got an email from the DH requesting Burritos/Taco's tonight since we are going to be having a guest. aaaarrrrrggggggg
I need all the support I can get...So the more the merrier! It's sometimes rough living in another country. They put sugar and salt in most of the sauces over here... It's hard to find things that were easy to get in the US.

Yeap, welcome! My scale reads in kilos, so it's just easier to post that way. The diet you're doing now is pretty darned close to the one I did last year, so good luck and we'll get those ki-- erhm, pounds off!
PS: My mom's name is Dianna :) She used to get so upset when people would call her Diane and say "That's not my name!". So seeing your name is a bit odd for me at the moment, but I'll get used to it soon! :)
Hopefully we'll be having one more person join us as well today. The more the merrier, just keep in mind... once joined, no quitting! No cheating! I've told Sarah I'm not going to be nice about this... be prepared :)

My loopy scale again. Though I'm de-bloating atm, so that probably accounts for a lot. Mother nature can be so cruel.
I've become addicted to oatmeal. It fills and stays longer than other breakfasts. It's become my snack as well. Mark looks at it and makes a face, because it's just plain with a few raisins and some cinnamon, but for a diet it's heaven.

Hey, the higher the better to get the cacao fix for less calories, but even good (read gourmet and not budget!) 70% choco will do the trick. Tried to find some extreme stuff at de bonte koe but alas, 70% was all they had so that's my choco fix for the moment. (at 3,50E a bar, ouch, i'll be trying elsewhere next time)
A small bit with coffee in the evenings is a lovely taste of heaven after a long day, but even that only on some days.
We'll get those kilos off, bygod.

Yesterday we had the birthday party for our 'friend' Eric and we went to Utrecht for it. When we got home I was too tired from having to deal with Kristel being horrendous on the train to do anything but veg on the couch with my book.
Today we went to visit mom-in-law, haven't seen her in a while.
Just got home and Judy was busy trying to help Kristel learn to write her name. So tuna casserole is in the oven warming up and I'm sitting here catching up.
Sorry! And I did NOT forget! Everything I ate went into my last post.
I think I did extremely good even if there were bad things on the list. Cause the cola really didn't taste that good, don't know anymore why I liked it so much. The chips did nothing but annoy me by sticking to my teeth and gums, they certainly were not as tasty as they used to be. Now I will admit the chocolate on the ice cream was like heaven. Its too bad I can't find that 80%+ chocolate here, I think the most I found was 72 or something like that... I know Cote d'or used to have a 85% chocolate, but its not in the AH anymore.
*hugs*

I got on the scale just out of curiosity this morning. It dropped down to 120, and I thought I was standing on it wrong, so I got it like 5 other times, each time coming up 120. Not possible... something is not right with my scale I think. Go to the bathroom and then go back to reading my book. Get up finally at 12:30 and try it again. Low and behold it does it again. Then after about the 5th time again (thats 10 times on the scale) it popped back up to 123-124.
I don't know what's up with the scale.
But today we go to utrecht for a birthday. I'll be good.

Ahh, as expected.. still fluxing with that half kilo. Yesterday's eating was the same as the rest of the diet. No cheating, low amounts, etc... hopefully I'll drop that half kilo for good soon enough.
Sorry about work being crap, hun... but VERY GOOD that you didn't turn to the candy bowl. 5E of candy sounds like an insane amount of choco, a real binge, and you didn't fall into to it! GOOD! Keep heart, and hey it's only a few more days there. *hugs*

Total Calories - 429
1 cup tuna noodle casserole - 375
(made from whole wheat noodles (500gr - 1725 ), tuna (3 cans - 400), cream of mushroom soup(1 can - 314) , celery (2 stalks - 12), onions(1 medium - 46), mushrooms (2 cups - 30), garlic (3 cloves - 13), mayonnaise (2 tbsp - 114) , and cheese ( 350) on top this made a whole 9x13 pan full, less than half the pan was eaten with 3 people. For the whole pan its 3004 calories. Its a good thing I only ate 1 cup of it.)
1 cup carrots - 54
750ml water
1 liter water at work
Daily Calorie Total - 1143

Today started out as an excellent day, everything going as I needed it to go. Went to work and thought all was well. Seems my group leader is either out to cause problems in the last week or she is having some major stress and taking it out on us. I got a call from my boss, and she basically lit into me telling me about how the group leader is the leader and if she says do something it needs to get done. And I was told point blank that I had verbally attacked the group leader. I was like excuse me? I didn't have any bad words. Seems my group leader called the boss to tell her that she didn't like the fact that I questioned her need to have a floor vaccuumed. Its bloody friday, I don't want to vaccuum on friday evening, damnit all, and if its not necessary, then I'd prefer to do it on monday or something. So I get yelled at by the boss and the group leader is PMSing and having problems with her knee, and it gets blamed on me. Well fuck that, thank goddess I only have to work at that place 4 more days, and 3 of the 4 days the group leader isn't gonna be there. That really fucking hurts when someone you trust and think of as your friend goes and stabs you in the back for NO reason at all. Normally after something like that I would have gone straight to the candy box at work and paid 5 euros and eaten myself full with chocolate and candies. I didn't even think about the candybox. All I wanted was to get my work done, and to stay away from her as much as possible. Because get this, I wasn't allowed to say anything to her about me talking to the boss. I still don't fricking understand that BS. If there is a problem, then it should be talked about around a table and told to our faces, not behind our backs like little kindergarten children.
Oh well, I'm proud of myself, though. I dealt with the stress and didn't think about chocolate to cure the problem, or to make me feel better.
Tomorrow we have a birthday party, so sunday is gonna be a even out day. I don't know what there will be to eat, but I will try and stick to my water for drinking.

I'm tired today... work was really heavy and dieting + serious manual labor == one weak Heather... I ate an extra open faced sandwich just before doing my last run because I felt faint, but i'm okidoki now. I should probably slow down the rare at which i'm cutting calories out, as my daily caloric intake is pretty damned low (just around 1200 if i keep the full -500 in mind). My diet will find its balance soon enough now, the first week or so it's always a bit tricky till I get my rhythm.
Sarah, I'm really proud of you so far. One week and not one cookie and -2kilos to show for it. This is gonna get harder before it truly becomes old hat and easy, so we gotta stick with it, but so far... excellent job girl. 20% of the first minigoal!

Week 1 results...
Official weigh: 60.5kg
Weight lost: 0.5kg
Still to lose: 5.5kg
Half a kilo 'lost' by the scales in a week's time. Really starting the count from 61 as my initial weight as that was what I weighed before the mini vacation. Pretty happy with half a kilo off in a week, tho the scale may sill waver up back to 61 some time, time'll tell! I know I've been good on the diet this week at least, and it is getting easier already. Stick to it!

*curls up into a little ball*
Bleagh.
But on a happy note, today's breakfast was actually one worth mentioning. Yesterday I biked along through dirt paths and backwoods Schiedam with Carl while he _ran_ ahead of me... for 10km. Along the trip I came along ripe blackberries and harvested a nice bowlfull which made their way into my bowl-o-cornflakes this morning. Yum!
Carl amazes me tho. It had to be at least 10km in the end, and he never once stopped after an intial stretch. Go Carl go o_O;

Good morning everyone...
Because of the rain I got a late start on my breakfast, it was a bad morning to walk through the grocery store, but I prevailed! No sweets were in my cart!

Daily Weigh: 60.5kg (133 lb)
Wow, this is the lowest a scale has ever shown me in about 15 years. When I was 15 I dieted down to 124 lb (56.2kg). I remember that number. It burned into my skull. I was so proud to have reached it then. I had probably weighted as much as 145-150 before that diet. I was always a mite "chubby" as a kid. Wearing even size 12-14 womens in the 9th grade. But after that super diet, 124 was the magic number.
Of course I gained it all back pretty quickly. I only dieted then and didn't understand that you have to learn to eat right forever, and not just for a few months. I'd flux between 140-160 through high school and college, to a climax of about 180 before I saw the path I was on wasn't going well.
Well this time it is. Knowing I can maintain a good weight for a solid year has also prooven to me that I have learned to eat right. Ever onward, back to that magic number (Which still falls within healthy weight for my height and is NOT underweight). I'm sure the 60.5 will flux up again, but I'll get to the point where it stays... and then 60... and then 59.5... It will happen this time :)
PS: Mother nature started. Hallelujah...

Sunday - 600
Monday - 950
Tuesday - 825
Wednesday - 881
3967 calories in total not eaten! That means that my body should have burnt off another pound at least already! WHEE!

Lunch
Total calories - 131
1 stalk celery - 9
1 tomato - 26
3in cucumber - 15
1/2 cup cottage cheese - 81
750ml water
fem-fit, applecider vinegar and bio-chromium vitamins

You and me both hon... think I need some more aleve today... my back is bothering me.
You be so proud of me, I've done my shopping lately in the morning before eating breakfast. I've walked past the donuts, the bagels, the chocolate, chips and cookies. And all I can think is, if I eat that, then all my hard work will go down the drain. So I walk on by and it doesn't even bother me. I'm getting better at it, and better at it... There is even still a package of cookies here for the kids for their lunches. Hubby is getting better too, he is starting to respect my eating habits now, and is also reducing his beer intake in the evenings. I'm proud of him as well. Its cute to walk in and see him with a bottle of water instead of a can of beer. He's also much friendlier lately too, not as cranky. We are both going to bed around midnight during the week, me sometimes earlier, depends on how tired I am. I have to admit, I'm feeling mor energy during the day, but when I have to go to work, I'm getting tired real easy and can do nothing but yawn.
Friday is weigh in day, and I'm really kind of anxious to see what the scale has to say. I think I made it through this week pretty good so far though. Yeah I've whined and whimpered, and its not been the best emotional week, but hey, I survived and I didn't eat a single cookie! YEAH for me!

400ml milk - 200
1 banana - 90
1 apple - 53
2 tbsp raisins - 78

Something I learned today, 1 cup of dry oatmeal makes 2 full bowls of cereal when you add banana, apple and raisins. Next time I make it, I will only use half a cup. But man that was some GOOD oatmeal and I didn't have to smother it in brown sugar to be able to eat it! Yeah for me!

Humdi... So my weight went back to 61 after the paris trip, which was what it was before and the lowest my scales have read so far. I assume my real dieting task begins now, and counting what's lost should begin from 61, which isn't going to be easy!
Anything lost from here on out is an accomplishment for me. I don't know if losing 6 kilos to 55 will change a pants size for me, but I hope it does.
Onward towards the goal, one gram lost at a time.
*goes out to get some dreadded exercize by delivering the post*

Today's weight: 61kg - Had a kinda big supper considering it's diet time, platefull o noodles, but not overboard, and definatly not over any reasonable caloric limit. About 700-800 calories for supper though I'd guess. I had very little to eat for the rest of the day though, so it evens out!
With the miserable rain we had yesterday evening, it's no wonder you feel the snifflies coming back! And a headache sucks, but hopefully it's gone by now. You're doing great so far so KEEP IT UP. Sniffles don't == cookies! No cracking under pressure if you get the strep! Focus!
And Here's a really good article on hunger!

Snack
Total calories - 105
1 liter water
1 banana - 105
Day total calories - 1066
worked - 3.5 hours cleaning offices
biked - 90 mins easy pace, flat surface, with child and/or groceries
This evening was a long evening and I was hungry 1 hour after eating. I really don't like that hunger feeling cause I get cranky, and I have always read that when your body gets that feeling it goes into panic mode, therefore storing fat. Something left over from the time when we as humans didn't know when our next meal would be coming.
I'm tired today, my head hurts and I kinda feel like I was run over by a truck, and I thought my cold was getting better.

spek - 100

I also took a 30 min walk (150 calories burnt), did cleaning in the house for about 30 minutes (150 calories burnt). And about a total of about 30 minutes up and down the stairs doing laundry (100 calories burnt). (I didn't even count in the 70 calories they say it takes to burn up the ice cold water I drink everyday!)

1 dubbeldik (ice cream sandwich) this was 250 calories on its own.
Tsk... 3 days into it and you had cake earlier and now ice cream already!
Just say no, at all possible times, and then you no longer will be "making up for it" with your walks, but rather burning off even more with them.
That's 250 calories eaten when you were most likely not even hungry at all, because supper had recently ended.
High density whitesugar stuff just ain't worth it!
We want to lose! Not "make up for it"!
PS: If you want to have a "Desert" after dinner, try things with no sugar... Like pure dark choco, of the most high COCOA (75+) rating you can find. One small square and you get the full Choco-happiness effect AND there's no sugar AND it has few calories AND it's been proven to be medically good for a person! (relaxes arteries and releases endorphins and whatnot) Yay for COCOA!
Dinner
750ml water
3in x 4in x 1in piece of fish with a curry paprika sauce from the oven
1.5 cup cauliflower with curry sauce (powder mix with water added)
10 mini kriel potatoes (these are teeny tiny 3/4in potatoes)
1 dubbeldik (ice cream sandwich) this was 250 calories on its own.
Today has been a good day I think. Tomorrow will have to be a makeup day, due to the fact that I ate the spek at lunch time and had ice cream for dessert. I think while it is still dry outside I will go for a walk to work off that ice cream. A 30 min walk around the block with the dog, should help counter act that ice cream a bit, along with a walk tomorrow after doing the grocery shopping.
I really should start counting up what the calories are to each thing I eat. And see what my totals are for the day. I will do this after the kids are in bed and I have my walk.

That little gnawing feeling you get in your stomach late at night means that your body is ready to "eat the fat." When you give in to the craving, he says, you are eating your results. "If you go into a calorie deficit, you're going to be a little bit hungry. People need to learn how to accept that, be okay with that slight discomfort."
Daily Weigh: 61.5kg
Yesterday's summary: Did well, light breakfast, light lunch, no snack, supper was pasta salad made with a great deal of food from the garden. Today's supper will be the same!
--------------------------------------------------------
With actions like that you only sabotage yourself. There's no way I can know whether or not you "sneak food" during this diet, so it has to be entirely on a promise. Remember the pinkie swear!
Realising you do it and writing the fact down for all to see though is a good start. Eating as a comfort is something a lot of people do, me included, though when dieting I really try to consciously stop that entirely. Normally pouring myself into some other action like cleaning the house, or coding on Z, or just going outside.
Not to say I'm even slightly innocent. In school I used to sneak eating when I got home, before my parents came home. I would have cereal.. sometimes even three bowls and utterly ruin my supper. Sometimes I would go for frosting, but that always left me feeling wretched and sick after. That was a long time ago though.
Nowadays I think the worst I do is sometimes getting a donut from the AH after a hard day walking at work. Or if I have pms misery, but even that is few and far between, but still has to stop if I wish to continue to lose weight and not just maintain it.
Mainting for me has become old hat though, and it will for you as well if we do this diet right. We simply have to learn what we can and cannot eat in a day's time. How much food we burn, and on the days when we go overboard to have a "balance day" after where you eat a little less to even it out. Right now it's all about eating a little less though, because the goal is to lose... and not maintain.. and we can do this!
Realise the struggles, and write them down. So you know what they are, and so you can also look back and see just how far you come day by day!
STICK TO IT!

yeah as you can see a trend to lean towards the sweet side of bad things. And I know every secret way of eating these things without anyone else knowing. I know how to sneak things to my room, how to hide things so only I know where they are. No more of that...

Drank during Stargate and Doctor Who - 750ml

You know, I'm doing much better today, but I think that may have something to do with the fact that we ate dinner later. After eating dinner at 5pm and then working 3.5 - 5.5 hours, I tend to get hungry at the worse times to eat. My only complaint is the need to go to the bathroom with all this water I'm drinking. But, I have to remember, water reduces hunger. And obviously my body needs the water. I think that my day was pretty good, my brie was a splurge so I stayed away from cookies and dessert. It was difficult at first when hubby put the cookie in front of my nose, but I let it sit on the desk and then gave it to the kids. Showing him I was serious about not wanting it. Dessert is normally easy to skip cause I normally have to run out the door to work after dinner. I think I might let myself have dessert on saturday or sunday once in a while, just so I don't feel like I'm depriving myself. I know as well as Heather, cause she's listened to me complain about it often enough. If I deprive myself, I binge, meaning I eat LOTS of bad things at a time. Not the binge and purge, I've never had the urge to do that, I like my food too much and HATE the taste of food coming back up. Not something that has ever appealed to me, even as big as I am. And not eating at all, well forget that... to me food was 'comfort'. If I was stressed, food was my answer. If I was sad, food was my answer. If I was hurt, food was my answer. If I was scared... you got it, food. Most specifically, anything BAD, chips, cookies, chocolate, ice cream, candy, icing, cake, pie... yeah as you can see a trend to lean towards the sweet side of bad things. And I know every secret way of eating these things without anyone else knowing. I know how to sneak things to my room, how to hide things so only I know where they are. No more of that... Right before I pinkie swore to Heather, I had a scare from work about losing my hours. First thing I did, was go for chocolate ice cream, smothered in chocolate syrup. I also at the same time bought cookies, three packages. I have NOT eaten one cookie, and I opened the first package to give the kids cookies in their lunches as a special treat. There is ONE package left over. Hubby and the kids ate the second package today, and I turned them down. I feel good about that. Thank you Heather!

I'm going to be mean about this. Even though you get strep throat doesn't mean you get cookies and ice cream to make it better. Not this time. No cheating. No sulking. The hunger feeling is good, because it means your body has actually gone into burn-mode. As long as you feel that, you ARE burning fat and not food. Once we re-associate that feeling as a good thing, the diet gets easier. Plus the longer we're on it, the more our we bellies shrink, and the less it takes for us to feel full.
We will stick with this! You WILL see 99 kg!
NO CHEATING! :)

Today's weight: 62kg.
Yesterday dieting went well, but obviously I didn't lose a kilo in a day. The scales go up and down a lot like that, so just out of morbid curiocity I'll weigh myself each day and see how they go. Tomorrow watch it say 65!
PS: No snacking while on the computer! Multitasking munching is bad bad bad! :)

I had a hard time last night after work and while playing on Zombie, cause I was getting hungry.
So I went to bed and read a book. I'm hoping this evening will be easier.
Well seen as Heather posted aboout her diet and weightloss history. I guess I could post a little about mine. I've been big most of my life, I honestly do not remember never having problems finding clothes or not being big. Even saw pictures of me as a kid with a pretty big tummy. So I've been battling with being overweight, I guess I could say ALL my life. The last time I was on truly on a diet and kept to it for any length of time was the first time Kees and I tried the diet 'Fit for Life'. That was back in 1997. I lost 15 kilos in 4 months and he lost like 16 kilos in 2 months or less. I was at the same time, going two times a week to a gym with my mom-in-law to a seniors group, I hadn't done any serious exercising for a long time, so figured it was a good place to start. It really worked and I felt like I had more energy and felt really good about myself as well. I had made it down to 100 kilos and we went back to the states for a 4 week visit and came home and had a baby. After that it all went uphill to say the least. The weight never went away and only gained more. My highest weight was 130 kilos after 2 babies and no workouts and no diets. Finally after we moved to a house, there was a gym 2 minutes walking from my house and so I went there for 6 months. In the whole time there, I lost a total of 5 kilos. Yeah, after 6 months of gym and dieting I had only lost 5 kilos, I got sick with strep throat and had to stop after that. I've tried walking on my own, with friends or the dog. It works for a while and I keep up with it, but then everytime the weight starts to go off, I get sick with strep. Its not a joke, for the last two years everytime I get down about 5 kilos, I get strep throat. So I'm hoping this time it will be different.
I'm taking my vitamins, I've got Heather as backup, and hubby is even being supportive too.
I'm drinking LOTS of water as you can see, and trying desperately to keep to the healthy foods and not overdo it on anything.

Well, since it's the first day, I'll write out the list of what was eaten, and what I consider a "good diet day" just so you get an idea ;P
Breakfast at 8am: Mini bowl of corn flakes + milk. One slice of dark bread (vlaamse mik! my favo) with one slice of deli chicken on it and some garlic/garden herbs spread. Two cups of coffee+milk, no sugar.
Lunch at noon: Two more slices of bread+chicken.
Snack at 4pm: Yet another single slice of bread and chicken (Hey I eat what's in the house)
Supper at 8:30pm: Cereal bowl filled (but nothing showing over the rim, so not a lot) with tortellini, mushrooms, and paprika, sauteed in chili oil plus 4x IKEA meatballs mixed in.
After: Coffee+milk and 2x thumbnail sized squares of 88% (88!!! That's _extreme_) bitter dark choco.
Exercize would be walking all over the bloody city delivering mail. :P

the last additions for the day...
1 piece of chocolate cake (2inx3inx1in) - a co-worker brought it cause it was her last day at our project. - 200
1 liter water
1 nectarine - 60
So all in all, I think I've done good today. It wasn't as bad as I figured it would be throughout the day. Though I must admit that drinking that much water had me peeing like a race horse. Felt like as soon as I put it in my body it was coming out. But this is good I know, it cleanses my body from all the bad toxins that have built up. I'm going to try to stay away from cola as much as possible. I'm not gonna deprive myself completely of a treat now and then. I know if I do that, I will be more likely to splurge and gorge on things than if once in a while I have one cookie or a piece of chocolate.

I've done well so far today. I can't do detailed reports on what I eat, because I'm lazy, but I will, each morning in the weigh in post, I'll post if I succeeded in sticking to the diet or tripped, and fell face first into choco pie (eek!).
Here's a good site though, whith info about how diets _really_ work. I really found this interesting! Clickkitty!
The table of contents begins below the ads at the bottom of the page. :)

First weigh in for me (and 2nd try in this blogger thing!)
Starting weight: 63 kg (139 pounds)
Today's weight: Duh! 63! (0 loss in total)
Goal weight: 55 kg (121 pounds)
I also am roughly 170 cm or 5'7" in height.
Current BMI: 21.8
My diet really started roughly 1.5 years ago, when I began at 83 kg (183lb, 28.7 BMI). I lost 20kg in roughly 6 month's time and have maintained that for a year. The end goal had always been 55, however and so now I am hopping back on the diet train in order to reach my goal. :)
For the amusing record, I currently weigh 315,000 Carats... 2,220 ounces... or 9.98 stone!
We will do this! RAH RAH! :)
